Well its been a few months and we have no news. We don't know if CAELinux will continue or not so I have already uninstalled it to get the latest version of Ubuntu. Since CAELinux is based on Ubuntu 10.04 it will only be supported up to April 2013 which will be here before you know it. If someone could get a list of packages installed in CAELinux that isn't in the standard Ubuntu installation then we can continue this great fork of Ubuntu.

Hoi allemaal
to Eezyville:

Ubuntu 10.04 is LTS (long term support) version, so support is 5 years, until arpil 2015. That is one of the main reasons CaeLinux is based on 10.04 LTS.

I have Salome 6.5.0 running on Linux Mint, based on Ubuntu 12.04.
Apart from one lib file that needed a symbolic link, the installation worked fine.
Have a look here: code-saturne.blogspot.be/2010/05/install...e-513-on-ubuntu.html

keeswouters,
The server version of Ubuntu 10.04 is supported until 2015.
wiki.ubuntu.com/LTS
Does that mean that CAELinux is based on the server and not the desktop?

Hoi Eezyville
you are right of course. CaeLinux is based on Ubuntu desktop. I am confused -ie getting old- with all the support periods for Ubuntu.
Sorry fot the mistake.

Well once you do make a new version can you put it on Kubuntu 12.04? Ubuntu with the unity interface is horrible for productivity and even the gnome 3 is bad. I think the KDE environment is better and would serve our needs.
