Another important application, in my opinion, is EnergyPlus
apps1.eere.energy.gov/buildings/energyplus/

and its modelling tool OpenStudio
openstudio.nrel.gov/

Description from the official website:
EnergyPlus is a whole building energy simulation program that engineers, architects, and researchers use to model energy and water use in buildings. Modeling the performance of a building with EnergyPlus enables building professionals to optimize the building design to use less energy and water. Each version of EnergyPlus is tested extensively before release.

EnergyPlus models heating, cooling, lighting, ventilation, other energy flows, and water use. EnergyPlus includes many innovative simulation capabilities: time-steps less than an hour, modular systems and plant integrated with heat balance-based zone simulation, multizone air flow, thermal comfort, water use, natural ventilation, and photovoltaic systems.

Hello folks,

I found this tool online. It can be used to prepare a Ubuntu LiveCD right down to our specific requirements.

Yes, I also feel to have Xfce. As engineers we need to have a functional interface (classical start menu) rather than the unity interface which is more opt for tab applications. I think Ubuntu studio is based on Xfce.

This group can probably help CAE Team in LaunchPad . Here is the list of packages they have already created since 2009

I hope CAELinux will move to a team of developers as soon as possible. I really like it and I'm willing to spend time to help it along.
