Hello,
sorry for the long wait, I have been delayed due to too much work recently. But now I can tell you that I am testing a very first beta and fixing some small bugs.
Unfortunatelly, the DVD is really close to its max capacity, so I could not include new packages like Sage math or openmodelica. But I have tried to install the repositories in the distro so anybody can install it easily then.
It is now a matter of a couple of weeks in my opinion, so stay tuned!

Hello,
I tried to include Agros2D and Acousto but did not succeed:
Agros 2D is packaged for Ubuntu 10.10 while CAELinux 2011 is based on 10.04. I have added the PPA repository for Agros2D but to install it you will need to for the installation manually. As I don't want to break my reference installation, I did not do that, but you can try it once you get CAELinux 2011.
For Acousto, I had a strange compilation problem related to libconfig. I could not find the cause. This really strange because I managed to compile a version about 10 months ago.. There is probably a regression or a mismatch between the manual and the current code.
So sorry for that but you won't have these two codes in the next release.
Regards
Joel
PS: I have now a pseudo finalized version that i will test during the week-end. It is coming...

Hello,
I may be to late to post this, but who knows...
I am very interested in having a linux distro with OpenFoam 2.0.1 + Liggghts and CFDEM installed.
www.liggghts.com and www.cfdem.com
"LIGGGHTS is an Open Source Discrete Element Method Particle Simulation Software."
CFDEM is based on LIGGGHTS and:
"We have developed a coupled CFD-DEM framework combining the strengths of LIGGGHTS and the leading Open Source CFD package. Our coupled solver runs fully parallel on distributed-memory clusters, providing considerable speed-up compared to other packages limited to single processor computation. "
This is of my interest because I am working with CFD + DPM...

Looking forward to seeing the new release. I mentioned this a while back (maybe sometime after v2009) but thought I'd bring it up again.
The ASME monthly trade magazine Mechanical Engineering, has a section called "Software Exchange" which lists a few new engineering software releases each issue. Mostly commercial items, but there's no specific requirement for that. Here's a link to the online version of a recent issue:
memagazine.asme.org/Articles/2011/October/Software_Exchange.cfm
Submitting an item for an upcoming issue is free, and just requires an email to the editors. Specifically:
"Submissions for software exchange:
Describe the software program in detail, following the format shown here. You may include artwork. Send your submissions to:

Would get the distro out in front of a large number of people, especially engineering students.

@Nick J.
Yes, that's a great idea... actually I forgot to do it last time.
@All
So now it is finished: I have the final release of CAELinux2011.
For the moment there is a problem with the FTP server but you can start downloading it with Bittorrent from here:
www.caelinux.com/bittorrent/tracker/mystats.php
In the end I managed to find space to add OpenModelica in this new release. Moreover, I have coded a simple GUI wizard to setup a CFD analysis with OpenFOAM from a mesh generated in Salome.
As a summary, CAELinux 2011 contains Salome-Meca 2011.2 (=Salome 6.3 + Aster 11.0), a custom build of Code-Aster 11.0 with MPI support for MUMPS and PETSC solvers, Elmer FEM 6.2 with MPI+MUMPS support, Code-Saturne 2.0.2 (MPI), OpenFOAM 2.0.1 (MPI) and many other updated packages.
New tutorials are also available here:
CFD with Saturne:
CFD with OpenFOAM:
input files and videos can be downloaded here as well:
www.caelinux.org/wiki/index.php/CAELinux2011_Tutorials
If you want to contribute to the list of video tutorials, the procedure is described here:
