Hi,
sorry but I have no definite date for the new release, but at least I can say that I am working on it!
It will still be based on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS but with all updates. At the moment, I have already compiled updated versions of Aster and Elmer both with MPI support. Aster will be in version 11.0 with MPI support for MUMPS and PETSC solvers but I am now waiting for the release of Salome-Meca 2011.2 to have a coherent set of versions (Salome 6 + Aster 11).
Next steps are to recompile Saturne and Calculix both with MPI and ACML libs.
And finally a lot of smaller updates (Discretizer, VoxelMesher, Netgen, Tetgen, enGrid and so on).
I also have a plan to include some simple tools to deploy a cluster... but it may come after, we will see.
But I have a question concerning OpenFOAM, I am wondering if people prefer the official openfoam release (1.7.x) or the Dev branch which includes a lot of open source additions ? If you have a preference, please express it!
For the release date, the best guess I can give today is by the end of september...

Thanks for the good news.
One question: why did you decide to use ubuntu 10 and not 11.04 64bit?
About openFoam. In my case, I'm currently working with openFoam 2.0, because my projects do not require any additional extensions.

Thanks for your hard work!! I have a question regarding single installation of Salome, Code Saturne-Aster, FreeCad and Openfoam. Caelinux provides a friendly using experience, I like to know what the difference(s) is(are) when all of them are installed as not as a package like Caelinux??? However, I will use Caelinux 2011 once it is ready for download. For your question regarding Openfoam, I prefer the 2.0 version.

If we are lucky CAELinux 2012 will run on 12.04 LTS. An updated 10.04 sounds pretty awesome to me.
Thank you Joel for all of your hard work putting this together. It is quite amazing. The relatively small amount of time I have invested in learning about the software in CAELinux has paid great dividends. I am very doubtful I would have touched any of this software without the convenience of this package.
