CFD tools was created by Zafer Leylek
I was very happy to see a Linux distribution specifically tailored for CAE applications. I was wondering if there are any plans to include CFD tools such as OpenFOAM and Paraview with CAE Linux.

Yes, in the next release CFD tools will added: Gambit, OpenFOAM, Paraview, MayaVI, OpenDX and openFlower will be added if there are not to many compilation problems.

But as I am not an expert of CFD, I will not be able to provide any support for this tools, but I hope that the community of users will share their knowledge!!

Hello, I am delighted to read that CFD progs will be included in future releases! Only not sure if people from Fluent, Inc. will provide Gambit source code for free :) [joke]

Hi,

I am sorry but I mistook this one: some time ago, I read the package description of Quantian Linux distro and I found gambit in the list... :) so I thought it was an open-source version of the Fluent pre-processor...

But NO, in fact this GPL \"gambit\" package is a game-theory function library,... so nothing that deals with CFD. :S

Hi,

I downloaded a copy of CAE Linux too. It runs nice and is already installed on the harddisk; actually just because I could not install salome on my archlinux system ...
anyways I like this 'distro' and when putting some cfd tools together I would like to see some packages too :-)

For visualization:
- vtk
- octave-forge
- octaviz

I would like to see some fortran compilers in it too, e.g. version 9.0 from Intel. Everybody has to get an individual licence file though.

By the way, are there any plans to make it to a 'real' distro'? I think there is one missing, especially one with pretty new packages...

Greetings!
Fabian

Hi,

sorry, I just read the threads about the rpm distribution of the cae packages... but I would like to see those visualization programmes :-)
