Running Code_Aster Test cases was created by Ewout Lagerweij
I have some questions and issues with trying to run Code_Aster test cases in Salome-Meca. (I have Caelinux 2011 installed on a Virtual Box under Windows 8)
-Is it correct that version 10.5 of Code_Aster is used in Salome-meca 2011.2?
-In the folder /opt/SALOME-MECA-2011…-x86_64/aster/STA10.5/astest i can only find the forma01 test case. Will the test cases belonging to Code_Aster 10.8 work with this version of Code_Aster.
-How do I execute a testcase for exampe 'forma01a' in salome-meca?

I did not want to create another topic, so i'll use my existing one for another question.

I have been trying to reproduce this tutorial:
www.caelinux.org/wiki/index.php/Contrib:...x_cases/liaison_elem

In the section 'preparing the object' the following statements are made:
  • Now create two points; one at the center of the top surface of the bottom box (if the box is 200x200x200, the coordinates of the first point will be {100,100,200}), and another at the center of the bottom surface of the top box.
  • Create a node group for each of the two nodes, call the two node groups N_1 and N_2 respectively

I tried creating the two points in the Geometry module with the 'Create a point option' and it created Vertex_1 and Vertex_2. However i am unable to create a group with these two points in the Meshing module. Where am i going wrong?

Hoi Ewout

hard to tell what what 'you are doing wrong' with the current information.
I can imagine that:
in the geometry module, did you create the points **on** the box ie related to the geometry of the box or did you create a 'loose point' not connected to this geometry? In case of the last option you probably cannot create groups in the mesh module.

Not sure however whether this is the cause of your problem without more information.

Interest: structural mechanics, solar energy (picture at 'my location' shows too little pv panels)

When i create a new point in the geometry module on the surface of box 1 and 2. I cannot create a node group in the Mesh module by selecting the point.
However i can create a node group by creating a node directly in the Mesh module and point it to a new group.
Than i'm stuck at the next step, because i am supposed to create an edge between the two nodes.
However i cannot select these nodes which i have created.

(If i'm correct the node, element and face groups should correspond with the compound mesh, created from the other two boxed hexa meshes)

My issue was caused by the viewing settings in Salome 6.3.0. For the creation of the edge, i had to select the individual nodes. However the nodes i had created were not easily identified.
Selection of the nodes was easier in when i reproduced the steps in caelinux 2010 (which contains an earlier version of Salome).

edit: please merge with existing topic pressed wrong button

Edit: Merged post - glad you got it working /C

Are there compression-only elements in Code_Aster?
I could not find their existance in the reference documents.
