Risque & Conseil Error was created by JamesD
Hi,

I've been trying to create a model using torque and pressures. I can get both to work separately as different files, however when I try to combine them to make the final model I get errors. I've attached the .mess file to view them.

I found that when I create a simple model and apply a pressure it works but then when I start to add a new node and edges to create a beam for my torque that's when I get the errors. I added a new node to the mesh then created a group for it. I then created a group of nodes on the model and attached the two with edges which I grouped. Without applying any loads or constraints to the new groups I ran the pressure analysis again and get the errors.

I'm guessing this is where my difficulties getting the final analysis to work are stemming from. Is there something I should be doing to the created nodes and edges? I don't understand why adding them changes the analysis.

Any help would be great.

Hoi James

it is a bit hard to follow without the geometry or mesh file how you defined the various parts in your analysis. Although you fixed some part (dx=dy=dz=0) a part of the construction is 'loose' since you get a pviot is zero error (pivot for dx at node xxxx). So the question arises: How did you connect the beams to the tria/tetra elements in your mesh?

Hi Kees,

I am adding a node slightly offset to the original mesh then grouping that single node with the name 'Force'. I then group the four corner nodes of the model and call them 'nodegrp'. I then connect these four nodes to the single node with edges, I group these edges as 'Rig'. I have been playing around with this for a while now and I'm not getting anywhere!

I have attached the folder which contains the files. the Test.hdf file is the working mesh with a Press_Rep applied. The file Test2.hdf is the same but with the new node and groups applied.

Thanks for the help

Regards

James

Hoi James

In the *.mess file I see the mesh and the groups:

NOMBRE DE NOEUDS 34936
NOMBRE DE MAILLES 29340
SEG2 4
SEG3 646
TRIA6 10298
TETRA10 18392

NOMBRE DE GROUPES DE NOEUDS 2
Force 1
Nodegrp 4

NOMBRE DE GROUPES DE MAILLES 3
Fix 252
Press 4541
Rig 4

Can you (re-)post your mesh file - it is not attached now ;-). Sorry it is right now. I did not watch the time of your and mine posts that closely.
