Hi,
actually you don't need to press ESC to enter custom boot commands in CAELinux 2009: just type your boot command directly at the boot prompt.
but I don't think that all_generic_ide will help much as you don't have IDE disks but SCSI disks! Unfortunatelly, I don't have any SCSI controller/disk to test CAELinux on such configuration but as CAELinux 2009 is based on Ubuntu 8.04, any information that you can find to boot Ubuntu 8.04 with your kind of SCSI controller (Adaptec 29320A) will help.
Actually I found an interesting post saying that if you type "exit" after you entered in "Busybox" command prompt it may continue the boot process normally... could you check that?
ref: bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs-tools/+bug/278176
If this is the case, the "Busy box prompt" is caused by the long delay required by the SCSI controller to initialize itself properly.
Some other interesting informations:
forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/990707.html
www.linuxcompatible.org/Adaptec_29320A_SCSI_c11696.html
These post seem to mention that this SCSI RAID controller is not 100% hardware based so that you can only access individual disks from Ubuntu and you won't see the RAID array as a single disk. If you are going to use this PC only for CAELinux, you can try a basic install without RAID first, just using the first HDD for example.
PS: a friend of mine had problems with SCSI disk in Ubuntu.. and the simplest solution he found was actually to install a SATA disk and use it for its Linux installation... considering the price of a SATA disk compared to the price of your server, it could be a cheap and direct solution
Best Regards

Many Thanks to all!
Nothing helps, so i will give up and throw out the scsi disks. On the other side, they are quite fast an i have registrated WinXP64 installed on them. So i am not shure, that i can install it on other disks without registration problems.
Thank to all for the help!
