Great Thanks Kees,
I have promoted you as moderator.
To clean spam, all you need to do is
1) open the post
2) click on the user name on the left
3) jump to New Ban tab
4) choose Ban from : Forum
set End time to something like 2020-1-1
set Public reason: spam
select Delete all profile info and Delete all posts
Validate
Thank you in advance for your help... keeping the forums and wiki clean is a really important issue.. but also a painful task. So I am glad that we can share the load.
Cheers
Joel

Hi Claws
welcome on board! That's great to have such a magic team to fight against the ugly spammers
I have promoted you to the rank of moderator for the forums and the wiki.
For the wiki, here is the procedure:
1) starting from the list of recent changes (keep this tab open during the whole process is easier)
2) for each spammer: click the Block button and then choose ban time=infinite, reason=spam and block last ip = yes, cannot send email=yes
3) for each uploaded spam image : click on the image link and choose Delete
4) for each spam page: open the page and choose Delete
5) for each spam/bad edit: open the page, go to history, select the two last version, press compare and then 'rollback' (if I remember well)
Thanks a lot for your help.
Cheers
Joel
Ps: @Kees, you have also moderator rights for the wiki !

Dear God, it seems your 'captha' has encouraged even more spammers on the wiki
Could you be convinced to install a better captha? Otherwise the wiki will drown in irrelevant spam during the days when neither you, catux or me patrol it. Even worse, legitimate pages like Vic just submitted, will drown in the 'recent changes' page

Hi Claws,
yes, I agree with you, the spam has reached such a level that it cannot be controlled anymore...
I have implemented all the available means to my knowledge to stop the spam (captcha + email confirmation + a huge spammer IP db and filter), but it looks like the spam is submitted by real humans... and not bots. In that case no captcha system or other system can hold.
So until the situation gets more relaxed, I have decided to block new user registration. If the spammers submit modifications in the standard way, it should vanish rapidly. If the spammers have installed a backdoor or have cracked a password, then it will be clear.
Thanks you so much for your time spent on cleaning the wiki... I know it's boring and frustrating to see that it goes on whatever we do.
