looking forward to see those results.
Let me ask you this: What EC2 machine you need to have equal compute power as your conf?
What you need to have 10 times more compute power?
This is interestin for cost comparison.
I have found on Ebay lately HP Z800 dual quad xeon workstations, sometimes with 16Gb Ram for 1500 EUR. This is real powerful machine, if you need something lot faster what EC2 would you need and how much would it cost to run it?
See what I meen? It comes down to power/€ ratio.
Good thing with EC2 is you need more power, simply rent it.

Hi
CAELinux on Cloud in my opinion is very nice solution.
I did some meshing tests and linear static analyses and it was ok.
Used NX client and m1.xlarge AMI
List of problems I have noticed:
- display update problems, mainly Salome menus within Mesh module launched and mesh displayed
- OpenFoam doesnt work at all or I dont know where to start it

I ran Code_aster today. I was running four instances and 3 of them died because I didn't have enough space. Although I'm not sure if there is a easy solution to this.

I looked into my problem with running out of space. It turns out that when you create an AMI that the root partition has the same amount of space as the AMI (i.e. if the AMI is 10 GB, you'll have 10 GB in /). The instance storage that they refer to is a separate drive mounted on /mnt What this means is that your working directory, and possibly flasheur should point to /mnt instead of /tmp or ~/
