CAD add was created by Martin
hi.
First of all, great idea. I've planed to go deeper into salome, and this LiveCD is just perfect for this.
My question is: do you plan to add some 3D CAD tool (egz. free-cad.sf.net)? It will much help with building objects, and make CAE linux great distro for engineers.
Thx

Hi,

First, thank you for your support!

We will try as much as possible to include an open-source CAD system in CAELinux, but at the moment, the most advanced project (free-cad) is still at a very early stage, so we will wait until it reaches a good stability with enough features.

PS: note that you can also use SALOME to create 3D CAD geometry. At the present time, the interface of the SALOME/GEOM module is not very ergonomic but most of the necessary features are allready implemented (extrusions/revolution, boolean operations etc...).

I look forward for some CAD implementation, but of course I'll bite into CAE Linux :)

PS: I know that freeCAD is at very very early stage, but it's also lacks of proper binary distribution, so even compiled CVS snapshot will doo much for this project.

Hi Martin,

I will integrate the 2D open source CAD system QCad in the next release and also if I can compile FreeCAD easily I will try to integrate it in further releases.
