Following caelinux.com/CMS/index.php?option=com_co...;id=44&Itemid=40
I started glxgear:
voturin@OTDEL14:~$ glxgears
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Error: couldn't get an RGB, Double-buffered visual
voturin@OTDEL14:~$
I have GeForce 7600 GT and still can't run Salome-Meca-2008 in Ubuntu 8.04

Hi,
did you install the proprietary Nvidia drivers?
You should not see this kind of error if the Nvidia 3D drivers have been successfully installed....
Good luck

Thank you!
Finally I downloaded EnvyNG from www.albertomilone.com/nvidia_scripts1.html and run this program. One have installed right Nvidea driver. Now Salome-Meca-2008 works under my Ubuntu 8.03

Check your file /etc/X11/xorg.conf to see if you have this section:
Section "DRI"
Mode 0666
EndSection
It enables 3d acceleration for all users, otherwise only root can use it.
Regards, Alessandro.

Hi all,
This is not the reply to the earlier post on the topic; rather presentation of another problem in Fedora 8.
After installation of the package Salome-Meca2008 in /opt as per the README file, salome runs as long as i do not logout as root.
After one logout, the graphical login screen crashes with a message "Greeter application appears to be clashing. Trying another application". After repeated trials, finally it allows console based logging in. Then if i try to run Salome-Meca, it does not run.
simply after deleting the SALOME-MECA-2008 installation dir from /opt, the system again behaves as usual.
My system is Fedora8 in AMD Turion (32 bit) and uses a propreitory graphic driver downloaded from ATI.
If any one has any clue? Pl help me.
Regards and Thanks in advance.
PS: I also tried to create symbolic link of libXdmGreet.so in /usr/lib to /usr/lib/X11/xdm/ . However, it did not work.
