Well, thanks for the Live-DVD.
I guess that will help people evaluate the product and i think it's very positive. That's a short answer for your request for feedback posted in the Code Aster forum

I'm currently interested in installing Salome on my machine. Do you have some kind of short description of the installation procedure.
I tried a few times but find it much more painful than the Aster installation.

Hi,

I don't have a clear documentation now, but here is what I remember:
1) download the ISO image with all the binaries.
2) you need to have gcc, g++, g77.
3) in the configuration process, try to always select the binary provided with the distro and also use the given python interpreter (an old python 2.1).

that's everything I can remember now, but if you have some error messages or details to give me, I might be able help you.

I remember having problems with Omniorb but i will get back to this forum with more detailed informations

But i will better wait for the next release of Salome, due in December.
That will be much more profitable than trying to install nothing that i'm gonna upgrade later. :S
