Salome import not seeing files in folder

First off, I'm new to Linux and I am running CAELinux through VMWare on an XP 32bit machine. I have tried two different ways to share a folder between Windows and the virtual machine so I can design my parts in Windows, save as a STEP, and import into Salome. The problem is I can see the file in the folder in Linux but when I try to import it into Salome, it doesn't show up in the open dialogue box - the folder is empty.

Anyone have any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Sorry - I was perusing older posts and found the answer buried inside another thread. Apparently the file extension must be lower case.
