I tried your setting and the result is the same

I've made a picture of the resulting screen but I find no possibility to add it to this mail.

the last iten of the boot sequence:

searching for the loop image: \"done\" (in red)

error: unable to mount the loop filesystem
dropping you to a limited shell

Hi,

sorry for this problems, but you know Linux & specific hardware is a looooonnng story...

For your information, the media bay (D/Bay) on DELL laptops is not USB connected, to my knowledge it uses an hotplug-enabled IDE / SATA controller. So maybe the kernel in PcLinuxOs .91 has no driver for your controller or for the DVD. But there are other options:
1) could you please also try with the PcLinuxOs .91 CD ? so we are sure that it comes from the \"driver\"/kernel.
2) could you also check the MD5sum of your downloaded image & your CAELinux DVD; you can this error if the compressed image is corrupt.
3) ... in the next release based on PcLinuxOs .92 you will be able to boot from an image on HDD or usb...

Oops,

I just searched for your problem on PcLinuxOs forums, and it's a known issue with recent Dell laptops: the DVD drive is connected by an SATA controller, but hte kernel in PcLinuxOs .91 has no driver for it...; problem solved in PcLinuxOs .92 !

I am currently updating all the kernell/packages of CAELinux to the same versions as PcLinuxOs .92, this will take much less effort to build and the result should be the same... let's see (support for Hyperthreading/DualCore, memory of up to 4Gb Ram and boot from HD/usb image will also be added)... so stay tuned for further news...
