Problem with Aster in Caelinux2010 was created by Kamil Gul
Hi everyone,

I installed Caelinux2010 and I launched several studies with code-aster
but I noticed an anomalie.
In earlier version, after having launched a study I was able to pursue time steps and general status of the job via the Progress of Job Window by choosing "Rechercher" option.
But in 2010, I cannot monitor the status. When I consult it shows white window.I does nothing
Also during the launch of the job, I cannot choose interactive follow-up option.

Can anyone help me with this problem?

Thanks for advance,

Kamil

Hi,

In CAELinux, there are two step of auto-configuration of the services needed by Aster.

The 1st step is run when you boot your machine and updates the basic network services (ssh and X access). The second auto-configuration is launched when you open a terminal (or whenever you load .bashrc) to finalize the configuration of Aster.

For some reason, these 2 scripts did not work at first:
Maybe one of those script failed the 1st time,
or you changed the hostname of your machine without rebooting
or you did not execute a terminal before running Aster

So if anyone else has a problem with interactive follow up in Aster in CAELinux 2010, try to:
1) open a terminal. Try to run the following command to check if SSH and X access is properly configured:
[code:1]ssh $HOSTNAME xterm -display $HOSTNAME:0
[/code:1]
normally a xterm window should show up. If it is OK, then ASTK/Aster should work properly.
2) if not, try to reboot your machine and repeat step 1) normally, it should work well then.
