Dell XPS 210 network was created by Simon Tyler
Hi

I have a Dell XPS 210 and am having trouble getting the network card working. (I say card, it's built into the motherboard). Intel chipset Intel G965 Express.

It works fine with Mandriva 07 but not with pclinux.
This is causing me hell, I can't get hold of any files from local server to analyse or try out the tools available.
On top of this I...
can't mount the CD drive
can't mount a USB pen drive (hal is not running, tried everything to get that working but nothing seems to work, even tried re-installing it).

All these things work fine with mandriva. I can't get the ATI card working on any Linux install, but that's ok, I just use the built in card, that seems to work fine...to a degree.

First things first, I need to get the NIC working, can anyone suggest anything to help.

Thanks
Si

Sorry, forgot to mention...CAE Beta 3B is the one I'm using. Could not even get 3A booted.

Hi,

did you try to use the \"ALT-Frambuffer 1024x768\" mode in the second page of the boot menu (Grub boot menu of the LiveDVD).

This may help if the HAL is not supported due to APIC compatibility problems.

Good luck,
