I want to model an o-ring in between two metal plates. PLates are 2mm apart, 10mm diameter and 10mm tall, cylindrical section. The o-ring is 2mm thick and 9mm outer diameter.
The bottom plate is fixed; the top plate has a traction in -z of 0.1-0.3mm
How do I set this problem up - Is it a contact analysis?
Are there any examples on the web that I can look at - I have downloaded the contact example but I can't make mine work.
Ignoring the physical properties of a rubber o-ring for now, I will try the technique with a simple elastic component with low modulus just to get the model running. I will then concentrate on getting the physical properties of the rubber right.
