Guys,

I am a complete newbie to using such a software, I have no experience with similar softwares like ANSYS , ABAQUS.....
My target is to simmulate the springback effect that occurs during forming operation of a metal with die-punch.....
I have around 10-15 days for doing this.....
I desperately need some help regarding this, please.....

thanks in advance.

Hello,
here you are some code_aster forum links where you will find this kind of simulation provided with the files to run the study:
http://www.code-aster.org/forum2/viewtopic.php?id=14558
http://www.code-aster.org/forum2/viewtopic.php?id=16068
Be aware that you probably have to apply some changes to the COMM-file if you want to run the study with a recent Code-Aster version.

Here you find a Code-Aster benchmark of a sheet metal forming problem, validated against ABAQUS and MSC.MARC:
http://www.code-aster.org/V2/doc/default/en/man_v/v6/v6.03.155.pdf

Good luck!
Richard

hey richard,

thank you for that..
but i need to ask some basic doubts..
1. code_aster is a part of CAE Linux? it means i will get to solve my problem in code aster by installing CAE Linux?
2. Is the forming process in cae linux 2D or 3D ?
3. how can the shape of the punch, die and metal sheet be designed? or is it supposed to be imported from some other software...

these questions are partially answered in the links you posted , but the guys there are quite familiar with use of this software, I didnt understand most of the things they said..
I am sorry, but this is actually my first attempt at such a software

thank you

1: Yes
2: 2D, but could be 3D, although very resource intensive
3: Models can be created in any software and meshed in any software, as long as it can create .med or .unv files (meshed models) - CAELinux has Salomé which can do this, although it's only good for basic shapes.

I am really confused by going through the Code_Aster forum posts.
