Code-Aster for MS windows? was created by phsieh2005
Hi,

I recently found Code_Aster and caelinux (still trying to download the DVD). Code_Aster seems a very powerful tool.

I found a link on Code_Aster.org for a MS windows version of Code_Aster. At the end of installation, it asked a couple of question, in French, whick I have no idea what it is asking. Has anyone find this MS windows version and have successfuly installing it?

Thanks!

I installed it, but it gave me problems.
The input file editor didn't work, for example..

Bear in mind the version you are talking about does not include Salome.

Worth a try anyway...

It basically asks you about working directories path and if you want to update the registry (X configuration for having grace running).

Thanks!

After installation (it does look like installation completed), I got an error (in French) and was not able to run it.

Does the version requires cygwin? If YES, then, that is the problem. What packages are required to run code_aster for windows?

Aster-Win installs a subset of cygwin. It takes care of that, anyway. Update the registry only if you don't have a cygwin running..

Firts screen:
your settings (installation dir, machine name, temp dir).
If ok validate: V
second option: xorg configuration. If you have not cygwin with X say yes-oui: O (letter not number)
If you don't care simply press enter.

If you pressed O it will update your registry.

restart config procedure launching c:\aster\config\config.exe

When you launch it complains about server name, but don't worry.

under configuration interface language you can set english..

Last thing: the path should not have spaces!!!
if your user name has spaces it won't work.

I could not find the Win 2k/XP version of Code Aster yet.
I would like to try it. Could you give me the link to down load it.
Many Thanks

I would suggest (if your PC can bear it) to start with the VMware version of CAElinux.

The win version of code-aster only is available here.
