Code_Aster_under_VMWare was created by Jacopo
Hello to all forum,
I'm starting to use salome and code-aster a few days ago.
I use code-aster under VMware and after preparing a whole model in Salomè and export the .med file when I try to solve the problem the file resu.med don't appare in my work directory.
Is there someone can help me to solve this problem? Is possible to solve a simple problem under VMware or need to install caelinux on PC?
Regards
Jacopo

Hi,
to find out what went wrong, try to open the .mess file (it is... in french...). In this file, try to identify something like "erreur" (=error) or "< E >" to locate the cause of error. Then when you know which command fails, you can try to translate the error message with an online tool like google or yahoo translate.
This is the general approach to "debug" a faulty simulation.
In VMWare, you should be able to solve small to mid-sized problems easily. If you have enough RAM, you can even try to solve large problems... there is no "intrinsic" limitation.
Best regards,
Joël Cugnoni

You have neither the resu.med nor the .mess-file. Which files do You have? Do You have any output-files of Code-Aster? May be You forgot to specify in ASTK that these files should be created? If You have specified them in ASTK their file numbers (column LU in ASTK) must coincide with the file numbers expected by Code-Aster.

in the ASTK-window attributes to the files are:
LU ID of file
D input-file (usually mesh and command-file)
R output-file (.erre, .resu,. etc)
C compressed format (automatically activated if You create a database-file, of type .base)
