looking for fatigue example was created by arnoldh
Hello,

can anybody provide a fatigue example in code aster? I've tried to read the available french documentation but I recognised that my french is even poorer then I thought.

Regads,

Arnold

Hi Arnold,
if You have a bit time, I will have to work with fatigue from the beginning of November. I am able to read french, but unexperienced with fatigue. May be we could share then our experiences? For starting: there are some examples in the CA-documatation at www.code-aster.org/doc/index.php,
chapter V9: Validation, sorted by "synopsis".
If You are interested to discover together this argument, You could contact me at beginning of Nov: jo_ackv at yahoo.de

Regards, Johannes

Hello,

seems like fatigue is of major interest here!!

Here is a small example of Wohler fatigue analysis in 3D.

I hope that this example will be simple enough to be understood without a thorough description.

The procedure is just:
- Define a S-N curve for the material
- define time-varying forces / boundary conditions
- do a time-dependant static analysis to get the stress history
- calculate the stress-based damage during this "unit" load cycle
- write results to MED file.

Here are the files:

Dear all,

first of all, thanks for the procedure and the example. I will have a look at it when CAE Linux 2007 is available. Without looking at the example I already have another question. What about rainflow counting? I read in one of the manuals something of rainflow counting acc. to AFNOR standard, but unfortunatelly, my french is really too poor to understand if it is implemented in code_aster or not. I think I will have to work on my french when I have some time.....

Jo, or is it Johnnes Ackva..., I will definatelly contact you in the near future. I will try to compare the results of some known cases calculated with other software with results obtained with code aster.

I will se if I can post an example as soon as I have one.

Regards,

Arnold

Hi,

I would like to add a litle comment.

EDF is developping Aster for 20 years and we distribute it as a free software for 6 years now.

One of our main motivation (apart from philanthropy, of course .. uh uh) is to increase the quality of the code thanks to a validation by the use and benchmarks.

So, please, if you do some benchmark, let us know your results and comments (functionnalities, performs ...) so we could improve Aster.

Thanks.
