guest account not working

Hi, I tried the CAELinux distro, it's pretty good.

The guest/guest session doesn't work, I started KDE with root/root which is evil, salome doesnt start as root, which doesnt matter much since there's no point in starting it as root, so I created an user account an then Salome finally started.
Is there a quicker way to make it work ?

are you running CAELinux from the DVD or did you install it to HDD?

I know & agree that running KDE as root is \"evil\" but this was chosen (maybe for bad reasons...) in order to simplify the use for non-linux users. But as we have received several comments on that point, the guest account will be restored for the next release.

What is more surprising is that \"SALOME doesn't run as root\" on your install. This is not the \"normal\" behaviour when running from the DVD, but that can appen after an HDD install.

But anyway, sometimes there can be a problem with the user's application settings stored in .SalomeXXX.YYY in the user's home. In fact, when you have problems running SALOME, you can solve it by deleting these settings as they will be restored with correct values at the next run. The same problem / same solution for OpenOffice... this is a common problem with live distro installation & remastering.

The reason why SALOME runs with guest account is just because you start with an empty home directory, and so the settings are generated with the correct paths.
