WIN 8 BIOS / SECURITY / Secure Boot -> DISABLED

Thanks2All

=======================================
Hi all,

new ASUS F55C i3 8GB 500 GB AMI 408 UEFI (BIOS)

Every non WIN 8 operating system gets blocked by WIN 8 bootloader.

UBUNTU's 13.04 Wubi is somewhat able to place UBUNTU in UEFI start manager but
trying to start results in error "operating system cannot be run" alike.

Think damned MS together with notebook manufacturers try to prevent users from
using LINUX systems by all dirty means.

IMHO this violates law of personal freedom and LINUX community has to form
resistance against such behaviour.

Meanwhile read a lot about UEFI behaviour ... every computer manufacturer
reads the common specs for UEFIr his own style.

Any hint how to proceed appreciated.

Have a nice day.

Regards - Volker

Go into bios and disable UEFI
Start Windows and click on the shutdown icon
Hold shift key and click on "shutdown" then a menue will appear and allow you select boot off DVD

This worked with Toshiba Laptop P75-A7200 (i7-4700mq, 8Gb)
I was installing regular Ubuntu and then added MATE 1.6 to make it work like CAE Linux 2011

wiki.mate-desktop.org/download for instructions on how to install MATE.
This time I installed regular Ubuntu 12.04.2 then MATE
