				Hi JakeZwart,
Unrelated question but how succesfully you can use Linux from USB device, can you use it in any computer, how it starts in the beginning. I mean how GRUP starting and system choice are managed.
could you be able to run a succesful CAE analysis with this? (aster, operFoam, calculix elmer etc..)
finaly, how you managed to do it, I haven't tried before
Regards,
Kamil

You can use caelinux on usb device in any pc, to create a usb bootable, if you have a cd bootable with Ubuntu ( or caelinux) , you can start the pc with Ubuntu (or caelinux) in live mode from cd , than from the menu select System -Administrator-start uo disk creator , you have to select the caelinux iso and the usb device you want use.
Using live mode you can run all the CAE analysis you want.
Rember to update the boot sequence every time you want boot from cd, usb or hd device
ps
i tryed to create a usb bootlabe also with the program unibootini without success

It seemed to work reasonably well, although I recall that meshing did not work too well. I am not sure why. I was wondering if ir ran out of memory. My BIOS allows a one time boot menu, which is a pretty convenient way of selecting the boot location.
What I did is boot from DVD and then System > Administration > Startup Disk Creator.
I was able to do this on both 16 Gig and 32 Gig USB sticks.

				I too face same problem.
I could mesh the component, however when given for solve, I couldn’t get the result file at output. ( Stress file not generated )
Later one of my friend told me that it need more scratch space to run big programs ( like FEA) which is not available in USB drive.
Is it correct?
I used 16GB USB.

That depends entirely on the problem being analyzed.
You should look at the .mess file first to spot any problems.

				Hi Jake
I understand this forum is not for to discuss very preliminary problem, however I need help and don't know where to go.
It looks you face smiler problem one year back.
- I am following tutorial - piston.
- I was able to generate mesh and define linear static.
- After giving run, I am getting massage that ......... <F>_NO_COMM_FILE
-Only one file below linear static get generated. i.e. job-id. No .mess file not getting generated
Did you aware about this problem. can you please help me in this. I am not a good user of Linux.
Thanks & Regards
