Okay to get rid of /dev/ramzswap0? was created by Greg
First, thanks very much to the people responsible for making CAELinux available. I've been looking for something like this for years.
Shortly after installing CAELinux, I typed a command in a terminal window:
cat /proc/swaps
Based on the information displayed, it appears the CAELinux installation created /dev/ramzswap0 with size approximately 33GB (size shown by cat command was 33055780). I'm a novice Linux user, so that raises questions:
1) Does ramzswap0 serve a useful purpose?
2) Is it harmful?
3) Will the computer perform better (faster) without it?
4) Is it okay to get rid of it?
I don't know if ithe following points are relevant but I thought I would mention them:
a) the computer has 64GB RAM installed.
b) I plan to add swap partitions on the second and third hard disk drives in the computer. The plan is to put a 40GB swap partition on each each of those two other drives. The 3GB swap partition automatically created at /dev/sd5 during CAELinux installation will not be changed.
c) the automatic version of CAELinux 2011 installation was used.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
GLE
