Hi
CAELinux 2010 is Ubuntu 10.04 in all aspects (including updates) with some additionnal packages from Ubuntu PPAs, a specific set of configuration scripts and some localy installed executables (openFoam, Aster, Saturne, Salome..) that are not yet available in Ubuntu repositories.
So the Ubuntu and other PPAs updates are functionnal and identical to a standard Ubuntu installation. You will also be able to upgrade latter on to Ubuntu 10.10, but this could potentially break the installation of some of the manually compiled codes, so I don't recommend it except for a test system.
