CAE Linux on Ubuntu Lucid 10.04 was created by Sylvain
Hello,
According to my local network administration and other software (that won't run on hardy) I want to install CAELinux on Ubuntu Lucid Lynx.
I can't install SALOME-MECA-2009.1 available here www.caelinux.com/CMS/index.php?option=co...;id=46&Itemid=40 In Lucid Lynx, there's not a libsdtc++5 support evenif I found a package on ppa launchpad. libg2c is not supported too and there's no package for this distro
If I install Salome-Meca 2010.1 and Openfoam 1.6, Which software do I need to install to have something like CAE linux distro ?
Thanks for your reply

Well, theres no real differences between CAELinux and standard Ubuntu. Joël Cugnoni has just done a great job of compiling and installing a large range of scientific applications, taking care of installing dependencies etc. One difference though, is that CAELinux comes with a tool-set for creating studies and for 'sourcing' e.g. OpenFOAM properly in the shell; these tools can be found here however, so you can install/use 'em on your own distribution.

Many of the applications CAELinux comes with, are readily available within the package-manager of standard Ubuntu or you simply download and install them yourself.

I followed instructions posted here: www.code-aster.org/V2/spip.php?article295 on HP Pavilion zv5000 and Ubuntu Lucid and had the following output (txt file attached).
