Would it be possible for someone to create an iso of a live dvd of their upgraded installation of CAELinux07/08 (PCLinux based)?
Unfortunately, I wiped out my upgraded installation (on a 64bit machine) when I put in 09 and I never updated the other installation (on a 32bit machine).
I suppose there are a few possible issues that I can think of:
- did updating PCLinux from 07 to 09 cause any issues?
I didnt notice any problems but I used only a few packages.
- can anyone create a live dvd iso that will be usable on any machine or is it difficult to do?
- would the original scripts created by Joel (the Great) to automatically configure everything still work?
I wish I could try to do this (I will continue my efforts but I suspect they will be fruitless). I would need to update my 07 machine. When I loaded this machine (32 bit) with PCLinux it was a fair while after the 09 update but there were instructions (beyond the 'Big Update Instructions') on how to do it. Unfortunately, their forum seems to have cleared out much of the old content and I did not try to update at the time.
There are probably quite a few decent performing 32bit machines out there and customizing PCLinux without going to 09 is rather difficult (through Synaptic anyways).
Cheers,
