i7 Compatibility issue?

I've recently tried to install Caelinx 2009 from a SATA DVD-Rom on a PC with an Asus P5Q m/b. All the options (except boot from hd) began correctly by showing the Ubuntu 8.04 progress bar and then it just took me straight to a console. Even the memory test didn't start, because it took me to the console too, without showing any errors.

The solution was switching the "use SATA drives as IDE" to AHCI mode - like you've mentioned here. It was quite a bummer to get stuck in the console without any error message indicating where the problem is.
