VMware tools

VMware server tells me the VMware tools are not the latest version.

I try to install them but get stuck at the point where it asks for linux-header files. How do I make this work?

Thanks in advance for your help. I have used unix a lot but never linux and I never had to compile or install anything before.

I am using version 1.08 of VMware server. (I didn't like 2.0 because it went though the web browser)
