Installation problem was created by johannes ackva
hello,
after started caelinux 2008 successfully from the LiveDVD I use the install PCLinuxOS utility to install it onto my Harddisk. In the selection screen "Please select the type of Hard drive install" I select "Normal Hard Drive (ide, Sata)" (instead of USB hard drive). Pressing "next" I get, in the following screen, the message "I can not find any room for installing".
Can anyone help me please to solve this problem? It is a new DELL Workstation, having 2 Hard Disks. The OS is Windows Vista 64 bit.
Regards, Johannes

Hi Johannes,
the source is probably that the kernel & drivers cannot access your hard drives (compatibility problem?).
Try to open diskdrake or harddrake (partition editor and device managers, all accessible from PclinuxOs Control Center); and look at what the system sees..
Depending on which disk controller you have, one possible solution can be to enable/disable AHCI or RAID modes... Once you know which disk controller you have, try to search google & pclinux os forums for that particular hardware type; you can probably find an answer (hope it's positive!!!!)
Good luck

I had the identical problem. Solution was to turn off IDE emulation, or to select ACHP, in the BIOS setup. This immediately allowed the install program to see all the hard drives and partitions.
