cannot start X-Window was created by phsieh2005
Hi,

I have been using Knoppix. This CAElinux liveCD is exactly what I am looking for to play with finite element stuffs.

I booted up from the livecd, I got the following error:

Error: Unable to mount loop filesystem
Dropping you to a limited shell!

So, I only have shell prompt, no X windows.

Any suggestion?

My system is AMD Athlon 64 3000+ with 1GB ram.

Never mind! This problem was fixed by
livecd noapic nolapic acpi=on

However, when I started Salome, it said:
checking naming service.....

and just hang there.

Yes, you may need to \"close\" Salome the first time it hangs by clicking Cancel and it should start correctly then.

This is pretty common problem, and it is due to the structure of Salomé itself which needs to start simultaneously several \"servers\" but due to the slow speed of DVD drives, usually it hangs due to a timeout.

You can also find more tips in the draft documentation available in the download.
