CAELinux Beta 3B on USB or FIREWIRE HD possible? was created by johannes ackva
Hello
Has anybody tried if it is possible to install
CAELinux Beta 3B on USB- or FIREWIRE-connected Hard disk? I looked into the Forum of www.PCLinuxOS.com, but I don't find a clear answer. I would like to have a \"carry-away\"-installation on USB- or Firewire-connected hard-disk. Can anyone help me?!
Thanks, Johannes

Finally, I am now succeeded installing CAELinux Beta 3B on an USB-Hard disk. Everything runs OK, but it is not a \"carry-away\"-installation as I intended because it seems there are a lot of configurations which must meet the computer to which the USB-drive is attached.

Hi,

for a more \"carry-away\" install on USB, you can have a look at the PendriveLinux website ( www.pendrivelinux.com/ ). There, you will find tutorials on how to turn a PCLinuxOs LiveCD to an USB bootable drive.

This alternative is closer to the \"liveDVD\" approach (it runs in RAM) but has the advantage of keeping everything compressed in the livecd.sqfs file and to boot from nearly any recent PC.

Good luck
