partitioning and install from live cd was created by Claude
Hello,
I tried to install Pclinuxos from the CAELinux live-cd on my laptop computer (ASUS with three Windows partitions) but was stopped just at the beginning.
1/ the install icon of the cd works but that's all;
I can look to the existing partition on the HD on the first screen and choose the one I want but Select \"Resize\" cannot be found and so unable to change the size if necessary.
2/The second screen \"Partition selection\" is not activated so I was stopped at this point.
I wonder if the problem will not come from the live-cd ( CAELinux Beta2 and PCLinuxOS.92) even if it runs very well with the tutorials.
Please What can I Do ?

If the bilt-in partition manager don't work properly, you can as a last chance option resize and /or the partitions and create ther necesaries with Windows tools like Partition Magic.

Hello,
in DiskDrake (partitionning tool), you will need to \"Unmount\" the Windows partition before you can select the \"resize\" option. Maybe also try to activate Expert mode...
If you can run the \"Resize\" partition option and get an error message afterwards, you will have to defragment your partition from Windows with the command \"defrag c:\" before porceeding further.
But don't worry, there is little chance that this comes from a faulty live-DVD..

Thank's a lot
It works whith \"unmonted\" and I was abble to go up to the install program.Great !
Unfortunately the process which normally takes 30 minutes, after 2 hours and more was not finished ( 99% was reached after 30 min, elapse time over, but seemed to never ended). So I canceled and managed to try again wthis same options: root(5G),swap(1G), home(4G) whithout success. The problem is that the bootloader cannot been intalled.
A message came: only 2.5Gig available for /root. So it semed to me that intallation was done but How booting without lilo (recommended)installed? I have no cd to boot whith.
Thank for last chance help.
Claude
ps: I have Ultimateboot-basic on a CD, but I don't understand how to use it (only Grub is available , not lilo)

Hello,
could you try with only \"root\" (9G) & swap partitions?
I have heard that some problems can happen with a separate /home partition.
Good luck!

Thank you for a so quick answer and right advice.
\"Install\" operates correctly after changing the partition as you told me: 9 Gig for root and 1 Gig for swap, eliminating home.It took 35 minutes. That was the solution !
Now I can boot as I want:linux or Windows just the name of windows partition has change: C become D.I have no explanation.
Thank again.

ps: la prochaine fois j'irai sur le bon forum.
