What is best way to replace CAELinux2018 with CAELinux2020 was created by Shesh Nath Singh
I have downloaded CAELinux2020 zip files and installed them on a 8 GB pen USB drive. The OS and many programs I tested, are running without any problem.
Now I want to replace the CAELinux2018 which is running on my computer, with CAELinux2019. What is the best way to do that? Otherwise, can I be directed to some article related to this?

Hello,
if you don't care about your data and customizations, it is simple: to replace an existing installation of CAELinux 2018, you simply have to choose the option to overwrite the previous version in the installer.
However, I don't think that your data in /home will be kept.
I would thus rather recommend to choose the custom approach ("Something else"). You will need to specify at least:
1. choose as root ( / ) partition the one used by CAElinux 2018, choose mount point as /, filesystem Ext4, and check Format
2. If you have a dedicated /home partition, you can reuse it without data loss: select it, specify mount point as /home, DO NOT check FORMAT if you want to keep your data
3. if you have any other custom partitions (like /boot or /tmp) in your CAELinux 2018 installation, just reuse them and make sure to check Format checkbox (if not files are simply copied / overwritten, which can make a mess)
This is the way I proceed in general so it should work...
