I am trying to install CAE Linux 2018 (16.04) onto an Intel 540s Series 240 GB SATA 6 Gbps SSD and trying to format the drive using XFS, but whenever I try to do that, it says that the format failed.

When I go into GParted, in order to try and manually create the partition first and then install CAE Linux 2018 onto it, XFS is greyed out/not an option.

Is there a specific reason why this might be the case?

Do I need to use:
$ sudo mkfs.xfs ....

to create the partition first before installing to it or is this something that should be working, but for some reason, isn't working?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
