What's the difference between dog cage and dog playpen? was created by david mitchel
A "cage" is completely enclosed (on every side, top, and bottom)...
A "playpen" would be some type of fencing you could arrange in a circle or square/rectangle that would corral the dog, but the floor (of your home) would be the bottom and the top would be open...
A cage (or crate) is often used to contain a puppy/dog that isn't housebroken or that might get into things it shouldn't when the owner isn't around...
A playpen is used more for supervised play, but contains the puppy/dog's movement so it only has access to that limited space (but more square feet than a crate)..
