Shutdown while logging in on battery power was created by John
Hello,
I just installed CAELinux and this is my first linux os.
The install seemed to work, but the problem is when I try to log into my account while using my battery and not a/c power. When I type in my password and hit enter the computer instantly turns off.
With the a/c plugged in there are no issues. If I have the computer plugged in while I log in then unplug once I am logged in then everything works fine.
I have done the upgrades to ubuntu 14,
Asus N53vs,
16gb ram,
samsung ssd 850 evo hard drive,
I7 processor.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

I did some searching and I noticed that in "power information" my computer thinks my battery has 12.5 V and on my battery it only has 10.8.
Could this be a problem?
How would I update that?
Thank you,
John

Search for the issue with your computer model + ubuntu 12.04 LTS since this is what caelinux2013 is based on. That should give you some clues to fixing the problem.

I tried doing some searching. I found that my Nvidia card (GT 540M) was conflicting with my integrated graphics card. I trying over a dozen fixes but nothing seems to work. The crashing is happening before grub can finish loading now.
I am really struggling with this transition and spend countless hours trying to google an answer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately I can't offer any other advice that to create a login at the ubuntu forum and ask for help there.
This is not an issue I have any experience in.
