Geom repair with Netgen Mesh Generator and Salome was created by Comment
Hello everybody,
I try to mesh a very complex part (from a step file )with Salome but I have problems like intersecting triangles or multiple edges on the surface...
In order to fix these, I used the Geom repair tools available in Salome on the initial step file but nothing changes. Then, I have done the same with Netgen (IGES/STEP Topology Explorer/Doctor) and exported the repaired geometry and Salome was finally able to mesh the part.
So now I am lost, what are the differences between the repair tools of these two softwares?? And the mesh algorithms are the same, right??
Thanks,
Dany

I did not know Netgen had the ability to repair step-files etc. Interesting.
I don't know if Netgen and Salome shares this functionality from OpenCascade or what, but they may implement it differently so the result varies.
Use the one that works.
The mesh algorithms should be the same, yes.

Yes it was also a surprise for me that Netgen has this ability.
The thing is that I currently do a master thesis inside a company to see if Code_Aster+Salome can replace Abaqus for their most typical problems. Thus, they don't want to use an other software to repair the geometries...
I have attached the error message 'Invalid input mesh. Some edges multiple times in surface mesh', someone has an advice to solve this because then I try to see the regions 'Show bad mesh', nothing is displayed.
Thanks

Try to post the screen shot again and if possible, the geometry.
Another suggestion: if you built Netgen yourself with OC support, you may have a newer (and hopefully improved) version of OC versus the one that is shipped with Salomé. That could explain the difference.

Hello!
Yes I have some problems to attach the picture I don't why the file is not found
Thanks for your answer but I am not sure to understand what you mean by 'built Netgen yourself', can you be more precise??
Now, I am not sure if I can give you a more accurate screenshot of the part, I will ask tomorrow...
Thanks,
Dany

By built yourself, I mean if you've downloaded the sources and compiled the code yourself.
Are you using CAELinux for this ?
