air compressor simulation multiphysics possible? was created by Stephen Kramer
Hello,

I would like to model a piston-type cylindrical air compressor with valves. I would like to know if with the CAELinux tools available, can I model the gas exchange processes, including annular crevice leakage, heat transfer between the air and solid surfaces, temperature distribution of solid components, stress and displacement of the solid components, simulated over many cycles with changing boundary conditions.

If you think this can be done with CAELinux, could someone please provide a brief outline of the best flow of information that would be work?

thanks,
steve

Let me rephrase my question please: is there anyone who has worked on a problem with similar aspects to this that would be willing to work with me and help me to get it set up?

thanks,
steve

I can only direct you to the OpenFOAM website for more information, as I believe this is the only CAELinux tool that could handle compressibility.

Otherwise I can't be of much help.
