SYRTHES4 Mesh converter was created by ANGELO GRECO
Hello everyone,

I am writing to you in order to know if someone had some trouble to install SYRTHES 4 and most importantly to convert the MED file to .Syr
In the new version of SYRTHES, the conversion is normally automatic , but it fails for each case.
I tried to use the conver4syrthes command but the shell has been telling me that this command does not exist. Beside only converst2syrthes which is the conversion program for SYRTHES 3.4.3. The previous version is provided in CAE linux and it seems that I have a PATH problem but I do not know how to solve it :-(
When I tied to convert with the converst2syrthe i obtained this message :
***************************************************************
convert2syrthes : convert mesh file to SYRTHES mesh format
**************************************************************

Convert to SYRTHES 3.4 format
SYRTHES file opened : Mesh_disk1_test.syr
MEDcheckVersion.c [43] : L'API appelée ne gère pas les versions de fichiers MED >=240
MEDcheckVersion.c [44] : Utilisez l'API MED3.x.y .
ERROR : unable to open MED file

I was panning to perform some tuitorials on SYRTHES/CODE SATURNE but I did not know it would be so tricky to install the software.

THank you very much in advance for your help.

Best regards.

Hello,

Did you source the syrthes.profile file first ?

hello,

Thank you very much for your reply.

I do not know if i did the right command , I went to home/usr/syrthes4/arch/.../bin
where syrthes.profile is located and enter in the terminal 'source syrthes.profile '

I tried also to change the path and put syrthe4 in it ,but I coud not change it and it seems that that the previois version is always in the path.

Also, when I modified the setup ini before the installing , it always shows error during the install when I put yes on install for ple and syrthecfd.

I am not sure in fact about the path for the ple.

Sorry to bother you with this , I am struggling with it for days now :-(

Best regards

Hello,

Are you still stuck ? In this case, could you post the error messages you have during Syrthes install, as well as you setup.ini file ?

Regards,

Yvan

Dear Mr Yvan

Thank you very much for your help.

I am really sorry for the late reply I was away without any devices to answer you or provide you the setup.file.

I delete everything and install ubuntu 12.04 LTS , and install CAE linux 2013.

I will try to reinstall syrthes4.0 , but I am playing with saturne 3.0 doing the tutoruials of turbulent mixing im a T-junction.

And I have some errors on it durig the run .

Thank you very much for your time.

Best regards.

Dear Mr Yvan,

I am writting to you about the coupling between code_saturne3.0.3 and syrthes4
I installed succesfully code saturne 3.0.3 and it works perfectly. I am now trying again to install syrthes4.

I have tried to follow the process to finalize the coupling. My problems the following:

- the PLE library, I do not know where to link the PLE library in the setup.ini of syrthes install. In fact I did not see explicitely a PLE library.

my second question concern the modfication explained in the install report of CS.3

"Once the code is installed, a post-install step may be necessary for computing environments using a
batch system, for separate front-end and compute systems (such as Blue Gene systems), or for coupling
with SYRTHES 4 or Code Aster.
Copy or rename the <install-prefix>/etc/code saturne.cfg.template to
<install-prefix>/etc/code saturne.cfg, and uncomment and define the applicable sections.
If used, the name of the batch system should match one of the templates"

i am still a beginner in linux and I am not sure if I had just to type in the "code_saturne.cfg.template" the following line :

"### Set the location to the SYRTHES installation directory.
# syrthes =/home/angelo/syrthes_files/syrthes4.1.1-ubuntu
###"
or
### Set the location to the SYRTHES installation directory.
# syrthes =/home/angelo/syrthes_files/syrthes4.1.1-ubuntu/src/syrthes_install
###

I attached to his email, the error.log, the setup-ini and the code_saturne.cfg.template files.

Thank you very much for your time
