install of code saturne 3.0.1 was created by ANGELO GRECO
Dear everyone

I am a new user of CAE linux ,I have enjoyed it so far doing tutorials on salome/Code saturne. It is really awesome.
i am trying to install code saturne 3.0.1 in order to couple with SYRTHES 4.
I also upgrade my version of Ubuntu to the last one , thinking that it would help me for some library problems
Finally, I download the install file from the code saturne website and install it in home/user/opt and everything seems worked fine.

However, weh i checked the version in action on the console it is using the version 2.

Can you tell me how I can change it ?

Thank you very much for your time.

Best regards

Hello,

You probably still have version 2.0 in your PATH, while 3.0 is in opt.

export PATH=/home/user/opt/bin!$PATH

Or directly call

/home/user/opt/bin/code_saturne.

By the way, 3.0.2 was released yesterday. If you have strong mesh non-orthogonalities near the wall or a very low Pranttl numbers, upgrading si strongly recommended.

Yvan

Dear Sir,

thank you very much for your reply.

I fact I am also a beginner in Linux just used it in my brief time at the CEA.

I tried to install (without ) the installer from code saturne website in the file directory/opt where all the software of CAE Linux was installed (openfoam, salome, saturne 2.0).

But at the end I had some error on the make process. Next I tried to install saturne3.01 with the installer provided by code saturne website (before I had to install all the library missing :-)). This one works was installed perfectly in /home/user_name/opt/code_saturne 3-0-1 ( I created a hope file because I t was asked in the install).

yesterday night I installed using the command indicated by the Moderator of CAE Linux and it installed the version 3.01 directly where saturne 2.0 was installed. However when I tried to lauchn it , it tis is still working with the code saturne 2.02.

I also tried /home/user/opt/bin/code_saturne , but it is still working with the sturne 2.0

Do you think it is better to install the software in the file directory/opt (where the sudo command is needed each time :-) ) and why the direct launch did not work.

Thank very much for your time and have a nice week end.

Hello,

I do not know the details of the method the moderator of CEALinux recommended to you, but are you using a full path to code_saturne (for example /home/user_name/opt/code_saturne_3.0/bin/code_saturne), or just calling "code_saturne" ?

What is the output of "type code_saturne" ?

For coupling with Syrthes4, you will need to also read the end of the Code_Saturne installation documentation relative to post-installation (and use 3.0.3 rather than 3.0.2 if you want to avoid requiring sourcing the Syrthes profile).

Yvan

Hello,

Thank you very much for your reply.

The method of the mmoderator was just a way to download code saturne 3.0 by sourcing in the list and use apt-get.

My problem is the version 2 , pre installed on cae linux is in the path with the word code_saturne <option> to launch with the terminal.

The only way to launch code saturne 3 is to go in /home/user_name/opt/code_saturne_3.0/bin/ and type ./code_saturne.

I do not know if it is possible to have both versions on the paths , especially because they use the same name. I create a path for the version 3 but it is still work with the version 2.

I think that I will try to remove the version 2.

Concerning syrthes 4 , I found an interesting tutorial on the code saturne forume , but only the part to install the ple path in the setup fie of syrthe is a bit unclear.

However I would like just to test syrthe first , espaecially on one case i worked in the past the battery cooling.

Thank you very much for your help , really appreciate , linux is going to make make me a bit crazy :-(

Best regards
