Unified Open Source CAE environment was created by ziteribo
Hello,
Here is quotes from mail that I have posted :
Hi William
Yes it is entirely possible to use Cactus as a framework for writing a
very powerful CAE software. This has not been an objective so far
though, and very little effort has been put into that direction. While I
do have some experience with software components from spatial
(www.spatial.com) and other ACIS software, I do not have experience in
mold design (beyond ProE) which I am guessing is your primary
application. Can you please elaborate on the capabilities you require in
CAE that you want to see in Cactus?
Thanks
Yaakoub

Very interesting discussion!!
But to be honest, before someone finds the human & financial resources to really develop a unified environment (would be quite expensive...), I am convinced that significant improvement can be made just by thinking about interoperability between all these nice open source codes.
All we need to work with the existing softwares are some bridges to convert geometry, meshes & data (fields of scalars, tensors etc..) and some good tutorials & documentation to describe how we can combine some Open source tools to reach our simulation goals.
So that's why I would like to refer to this post:
www.caelinux.com/CMS/index.php?option=co...t=6&limitstart=0
where a data formats & some mesh conversion tools are discussed.
I have started to write a small module for mesh conversion from UNV to any format and would like to see more people involved in this kind of developments (small but efficient & reliable conversion utilities).
Thanks for your feedback, and let's all try to make it work together.

Post edited by: admin, at: 2006/10/11 10:02
