Suggestions for Modelling Oscillatory Flow?

I need to model oscillating flow created by a reciprocating piston inside of a cylinder. The cylinder is connected to another volume/tank by a long tube. Because the system is closed, the time averaged flow is zero for times >> the oscillation period. Essentially the piston should setup a wave between cylinder and tank.

This seems like a complex enough scenario for the moment, but eventually I am interested in adding heat flows through solid and even porous materials (some of which are regenerative).

I am new to CAE Linux, but do have some experience with other FEA and CFD packages. Solid model data is in SolidWorks format and can be converted to other formats if needed. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to approach this simulation challenge with CAE Linux?

Thanks in advance,
Tyro
