i am just starting to learn openfoam etc.

i am wondering what is a typical workflow like... e.g. i have to solve a problem where there is a two phase flow in a vertical tube(which is being heated at the bottom, i.e. a bubble pump)

i want to know how to approach it, like i have to first define a geometry and mesh it and then maybe use openfoam to solve it and then process the results to get the plots etc.

i want to know which tools should i use for which purpose... can someone explain what a typical cfd workflow is like? which are the best tools to use for which process and optionally some good tutorials to get up to speed on those tools...

The typical work flow is exactly what you described; often you revisit each step to get the perfect geometry and/or mesh.
Salomé is the all-in-one package for this, however, each of its modules have their own limitations: GEOM is very basic for creation of geometry, but works very well for simple geometry and assigning groups. SMESH does create nice mesh (sometimes), but one wrong parameter, and it will make you regret you ever thought of turning on your computer.
POSTPRO works well with static mechanical results, but its horrible memory management - or lack there of - and subsequent crash from eating all you RAM, will make you cry.

For CFD geometry (and everything else) I prefer more advanced modellers such as solidworks, Pro/E or Varicad.
For meshing Salome really is the best (free) mesher for linux, and if you get to know the quirks and some tricks, it works very well (such as never to compute 3D volumes until you're completely satisfied with the 2D mesh).
For CFD post processing, Paraview is IMO unbeatable - it handles huge data set really well, handle animation really well, has a nice interface etc. etc.

The selection of 3D modellers, meshers and post processoers aren't huge with Linux,
