Particle tracking project was created by Fabio
Hello everybody,
I'm designing an INERTIAL IMPACTOR for particle sampling with an aerodinamic aequivalent diameter range: 1-100 micron.
A month ago I wrote a help post on Code-Saturne 2.0.2, to apply for an error output; than Yvan helped me and I managed to run Saturne, so it gave me out "chr.med" file to post-process with Post-Pro on Salome Meca 6.3.0. Hence, working with the GUI, filling in all required points, expecially:

- Steady/Unsteady flow algorithm: steady flow
- Eulerian-Lagrangian multi-phase treatment: sigle phase flow
- Turbolence model: laminar flow

I achieved Velocity Profiles into the impactor chamber in order to verify what I hypothesised on paper.

Now I need to put in the simulation on Code-Saturne a cloud of different particles size (n particles for each size) so that I was able to monitor where these particles going to impact or if they run away from the instrument.
N.B. I could use even one size for each simulation, in spite of it is better put in all particles at the same time.
My theacher says me to use an usteady flow (with Lagrangian modelling) in order to control particles changing path. So I fill in:

Thermophysical models

- Calculation features:
Steady/Unsteady flow algorithm: unsteady flow (necessary in the GUI to use particles tracking)
Eulerian-Lagrangian multi-phase treatment: particles and droplets traking
others: off

- Turbolence model: laminar flow

- Mobile mesh: no

- Thermal model: no

Additional scalars
nothing

Physical Properties

- Reference values: pressure 101325 (Pa)

- Fluid Properties:
density 1,20479 (Kg/m3)
viscosity 1,81 * 10-5 Pa*s)
specific heat 1005 (J/Kg/K)

- Gravity: along X,Y,Z 0,0 (m/s2)

- Hydrostatic Pressure: standard

Volume Conditions
default

Particles and droplets tracking

- Global Settings:
Euleria-Lagrangian multi-phase treatment: one way coupling
Main parameters:
calculation restart for particles yes
continous phase flow is a steady flow yes
max number of particles at each time step 10000
injection of particles during the time step yes
Physical models associated with particles: no

- Statistics:
Particle statistics read from restart file: yes
Number of particle cluster: 500
Baundaries Statistic: yes
I use only velocity and impact
Volume Statistic: yes
I use velocity (U, V, W)
resident time
diameter
shrinking core diameter

- Output:
Output listing:
output every "2" time step (but at the end, when I fill all the points and controll my work I find it automatically: no output)
Post-processing for particles:
trajectory mode yes
displacement mode yes
output frequency 1
number of particles for post processing 500
format EnSight
options acsii (both by default)
Variables selection:
particle velocity yes
residence time yes
particles diameter yes
others no

Boundary conditions

- Definition of baundary regions:
I use what save on check mesh as "listpre" and I have:
2 walls
1 inlet
1 outlet

- Baundary conditions:
Inlet: velocity volumic flow rate 1,66 * 10-5
direction normal direction to the inlet
Walls: smooth wall
sliding wall no

- Particles boundary conditions: default

Numerical Parameters

- Time step options: uniform and costant

- Reference time step: 1 (s)

- Number of iterations: 100

- Others: default

Calculation controls

- Output control:
output listing: every "2" time steps
post-processing: every "2" time steps
fluid domain post-processing: yes
post-processing format: MED
type of post-processing for mesh: fixed
others: default

- Others: default

Calculation managment
default

but when I click "run Code_Saturne batch job" a message, on Terminal, is immediatly showed: "ERROR CALCULATION STAGE"
I red Code-Saturne pratical user's guide, even though it is'n a guide for GUI and i try as before.
I'm sure I'm missing something important.
At last I need to show particles path and above all to give out where particles end their track

Where Am I in mistake?
Is possible using MED format?
How can I achieve the output and post-process it?

P.S. I saw Alexandre Douge's demo on Code-Saturne forum wich illustrates the behaviour of particles after an impact with color changing of the particles owing to their resident time.
I want to achieve something just like this.

Thank you so much to have red so much lines

I hope someone could help me

That's all

Regards

Fabio
