Harddisk or memory was created by Edward
Hi,
I have a question regarding harddisk and memory. I know a lot of memory is an advantage, but how about a fast harddisk?? Is there a lot of writing to the harddisk or is this stored temporarily on the memory?? I consider building a new pc for caelinux.

Code_Aster release : STA11.4 on OpenSUSE 12.3 64 bits - EDF/Intel version

I would definitely recommend a fast harddrive - perhaps a solid state. I love my SD, but since case files can turn pretty big pretty fast, you should buy the biggest SD you can afford. That or a WD Raptor or setting up RAID on two or more disks.

I use my SSD almost exclusively, but for rare cases when project files exceed several Gb, I use a temp folder on a separate HDD. This folder can be set in the .astk file or aster config file - I forget right now, but you should be able to find this information here or on the Aster forum.
You will never regret getting a SSD
/C
Edit: forgot about RAM - get 4Gb MINIMUM
