liveDVD does not work on ASUS laptop was created by uli fuerst
I downloaded your DVD CAElinux 2011 and burned it to DVD. To test it out on my ASUS laptop Ubuntu starts OK but when I try to open SALOME_MECA 2011.2 I only get the command line. Then the command line disappears and nothing happens. I tried a few times - including a reboot but no success - often not even the command line opens for the second time. I could quickly write down the following messages from the commandline terminal:
"Could not fine user configuration file"
"..../prerequis/Qt-463pl/lib/libQtXml.so.4 cannot read file date: Input/output error ++++++"
On my old desktop, which has also a 64bit processor (AMD - the laptop has Intel) your programme runs well. However I need it on my laptop to use for my teaching. Any ideas to solve this problem would be appreciated.
Cheers
Uli

Hello
could you please give me more detail on which Asus laptop you are running, like model number / CPU and graphic card?
I think that it could be related to the graphic driver. CAELinux 2011 does not include 3D drivers for the latest integrated Intel Sandy Bridge graphic processor..
You can also try to run GMSH , Paraview or even glxgears in a terminal to see if you can get a proper 3D OpenGL display.
If you are running on Intel integrated graphics card, you will probably find a solution if you browse the Ubuntu forums or wikis (look for ubuntu 10.04 intel 3D driver for example).
