New Case Study was created by Charles Warner
I have uploaded a recently completed case study to the CAELinuxWiki that may be of interest. It describes a CFD/heat transfer problem in a small rectangular channel, and focuses more on the problem solution than the details of using the various packages, but it is intended to illustrate some of the capabilities of various packages included with CAELinux (Salome, Elmer, Code_Saturne, Paraview, RKWard) and the advantages of having the integrated CAELinux package. The *.pdf can be found here:

or at Contrib:CWarner on the CAELinuxWiki.

enjoy. I would like some feedback as to whether this sort of documentation is useful to others...

I read your guide with great interest, and it is certainly something we need more of! It is very well written and documented. Since I know a bit of CS myself, one of the bigger kicks was some of the tricks for e.g. extracting data from a graphical curve etc., neat stuff.

Have you considered coupling SYRTHES with Code_Saturne for these kinds of simulations? SYRTHES/CS is very easy once it's set up correctly.

Again, great stuff, and don't hesitate to create more.

Regards,

Claus

Ps. you could put up some teaser screenshots on the wiki page to entice more people :)

Hello Charles,

I have read your case study with great interest too: nice work!

It really shows that it is possible to carry out a real and usefull study using only open source software! Also, the list of links is really useful.

For what concerns g3data and eureqa, I will try to include them in next release.

As you told me that you had difficulties with the wiki, I did some cosmetic work to highlight your contribution on the wiki.

Thanks

PS: thank you also to Claus for answering all those questions on the forums
